King Kong: Kong with Ann Bust

King Kong: Kong with Ann Bust

Weta Collectibles is proud to present a new range of collectible polystone sculptures celebrating the release of Peter Jackson's epic retelling of the 1930's classic King Kong. These collectibles are hand sculpted at Weta Workshop by the same team of artists who designed the creatures for the film.

The Eighth Wonder of the World, King Kong inspires fear in all who behold him. Kong rules over most of Skull Island, the natives being forced to cower behind a huge wall, periodically offering a sacrifice to keep the beast at bay. But in Ann Darrow, the Lady kidnapped and presented to him as a prize, Kong finds more than he could have imagined. Appealing to the heart within the tortured and lonely beast, Ann draws out of Kong a love he has not known, a love that will make him leave the safety of the jungle, leading to his eventual demise.

Kong with Ann Bust stands approximately 14-inches H (356mm) x 7-inches wide (178mm) x 8-inches long (203mm).

1933 King Kong Stop-Motion Armature Replica

The stop-motion animation that brought King Kong to life in the 1933 classic established a new standard for visual effects, and inspired generations of aspiring film-makers and effects technicians. Stop-motion pioneer Willis O'Brien and sculptor Marcel Delgado animated Kong using two 18-inch armatures; metal skeletons covered with sponge rubber, latex rubber, and fur. The two puppets had distinguishably different heads, one used in the log bridge and T-rex battle sequences, and the other used for all of the New York scenes and the balance of the Skull Island scenes. These puppets were not only incredibly realistic and detailed artworks, but the metal framework inside the T-rex Battle Armature was durable enough to survive the grueling shooting schedule of the original film, and later for Son of Kong.
